’cause every now and again one needs a little beggar’s guild fix.
not to long ago i asked for your votes on behalf of atlanta rockers the beggar’s guild to send the guys to bonnaroo. well it worked, not that i had anything to do with it.
well maybe i did succeed in swinging a vote or two their way so now i am asking for it again. the beggar’s guild song minnesota (free mp3 download here) is featured in bmi podcast #19 featuring music from atlanta artists and there is an online poll where you can vote for the artist you like the most.
i know it may not seem like a big deal, but trust me, people in the music business who matter look at these polls to see what people are in to.
so please link on over and give the guys a vote.
thanks
new song from the show at the earl that i missed because i was sick. hope you enjoy it.
i also posted some other goodies over at the atlanta metblog including a link to e a live version of ‘only gets better.’
p.s. – jon, maybe i am posting this to atone for the mute math drummer comment?
the beggar’s guild are going to bonnaroo!!!!!
congrats, guys.
more about it here on the metblog.
hey, jon – just because you are going to be a big rock star doesn’t mean you aren’t going to have to pay off on your bet. i know it looks positive right now, but just wait.
i got an email from jon c the other day which read in part –
Thanks to all of you who voted in the DaveFM Search-a-Roo contest, The
Beggars’ Guild has advanced to the finals for the opportunity to play
at this year’s Bonnaroo Music Festival!! We couldn’t have done it
without you and can’t thank you enough!!As it stands, we will play this Saturday at the Virginia-Highland
Summerfest in a “shootout” with the other band and the staff from
DaveFM and Bonnaroo will pick the winner. The scheduled set times are
11:00 and 11:50. I am not sure which time slot we are playing, but
will let you know ASAP. We would love for you to show up Saturday and
yell loud and all that good stuff!!
congrats guys!
unfortunately i am out of town but please, please, please go out and support them if you can.
i’ll post more details about it and the summerfest on the atlanta metblog when i get a moment.
i posted this over on the atlanta metblog and i normally wouldn’t cross-post but on this one, i’m gonna.
my buddies in the beggar’s guild, one of my favorite atlanta bands and truly some of the nicest people in the world, have been given a shot by dave fm to play at bonnaroo this year.
the catch is they need to be voted as a finalist.
so please, please, please, go voted for the beggar’s guild.
you guys know how much i love this band and have i ever steered you wrong?
please go vote. you can do it here.
i really, really, really want to blog about the cubs. but i just don’t know what i want to say. they have been quite schizophrenic so far and i am just not sure i have much cogent to say about them.
i am definitely pleased to see that derrek lee appears to be resurgent. good news for a good guy and a big winner for the cubs.
also, jon, the drummer from the beggars guild, and i have a bet on whether the cubs or the cardinals will finish higher in the nl central and i am, knock on wood, feeling good about that bet.
p.s. – i really hope you clicked that last link and dug the music. may 4 at the earl.
man do i love the beggar’s guild. caught them at vinyl last thursday and they are just incredible. you can check out my full review here on the atlanta metblog.
seriously, check them out.
is now available on soulpress.net here. it’s a continuation of my thoughts on how the web is changing the marketing of music.
it includes some great thoughts by atlanta-based rock band the beggar’s guild, who coincidently also happen to be playing at smith’s old bar saturday night.
i got some great feedback from the guys at the beggar’s guild on online marketing of bands for the next installment of web remix on soulpress.net. friday i am interviewing tim westergren, founder of pandora, for metroblogging atlanta.
and i have also undertaken the 365 days flickr project, where is will be taking a self-portrait snapshot every day for a year. check out the set here
