yup.

so you know the blogging has been going slow and the readership is down when your blog goes down for more than two weeks and you don’t even notice.

when, in fact, it takes someone returning from a four month stay in another country to point out to you that the thing is not loading at all.

still not sure what happened, but a chat session with bluehost support this morning resolved it and we are back.

now instead of white noise, you can start at this post for the next two weeks….

kidding. i am going to try better.

well obviously not blogging here.

i am not sure why. some of it is the twitter phenomena. some of it is that things seem to be stale right now. but mostly i have just been lazy. i have been doing a decent job of keeping up a regular blog schedule at the atlanta metblog but not here.

i am waltzing matilda down to geelong australia tomorrow, though, and i hope to do some semi-regular updates from there. it’s mainly work, but i am definitely hoping to get something out of it as well as a tourist.

anyway, stay tuned. i have been through droughts before and i always come out of them.

here is the thing. the atlanta metblog used to be great. fun posts, great commenters, lots of interaction. and then it went off the map. all us authors stopped posting. a few tried to keep it up but in the absence of a vibrant author base and user interaction it just died.

well a few of us who still have log-ins are going to try to revive it. we’ve started posting again and over the next few weeks we’ll be adding more authors and striving to get multiple posts out a day. atlanta would be well served by a multi-author blog written by amateurs just for the fun of sharing our experience as atlantans.

please put us back on your feedreader, sign up for an account and start commenting.

i posted a one year retrospective of my marta commute today.

last week was hell so sorry about the dearth of posting.

just a couple of things to catch up on. my dad got out of canada last tuesday and is doing much better. i got home on sunday and promptly got sick as hell with it coming out both ends. it was one of the worst 36 hour periods imaginable. that pretty much destroyed last week for anything useful.

i’m back now though and should be up this morning with a funny marta post about my adventures this morning.

also, if anyone knows of someone with experience owning a dogs that is developing aggression and might be interested in helping rehab one, please pass them my way….

my buddy, ben k, is the latest edition to the atlanta blogosphere with his atlanta real estate blog, terminal station.

ben has a passion for atlanta and a good understanding of real estate and development in the city.

check him out, he is a good edition to the feedreader.

my promises to write here everyday, post to the atlanta metroblog and write a ficlet every friday have completely fallen by the wayside.

sigh.

i made it awhile.

i will be back though.

i have to say that i really like the way the blog looks with the new header image a lot more.

i am thinking of taking the plunge and trying out a new theme tho’.

we’ll see.

i finally upgraded my wordpress install after a loooooong time. i seriously would have to go back and search to figure out how long ago it was.

anyway, i am on wp 2.5 now, and i continue to be amazed just how easy wordpress is to modify. if you are thinking of getting into blogging it is of course the tool to use.

you can learn more at wordpress.org.

oh, i also decided after a few years it was time for a new header. like it?

okay this just might be the silliest thing ever, but minicities allow you to create a little villiage and spread the link around. anytime someone clicks the link you get another person as part of your population.

check mine out, arcoftime which currently has one resident, me!

h/t to google blogosocped for pointing it, and go ahead and vists their minicity too at blogoscopia.

YAY! for silly pointless web2.0 apps.

at least you don’t have to register.

lots of stuff i am meaning to post on that i just haven’t gotten around to yet, but here are some things rolling around in my head:

- the long-overdue post about what it feels like to be white and in the minority
- a post about reflections on becoming a ‘right wing green’
- a review of swaptree.com and my experiences with it
- thoughts on freecycle

unfrotunately most of these require thought and time and frankly it’s just easier to post ludacris videos and make snarky comments about them.

so here goes….
