were well over two months into the experiment of riding marta to work. here are some interesting stats:
since the week before thanksgiving i have driven to work ZERO times.
excluding gas spent to drive home from south carolina for christmas, i have put $30 worth of fuel in my vehicle this month. my average weekly fuel bill prior to the switch was more than $110.
i have finished one full book, read the first half of the old testament and begun an detailed commentary on the gospel of john.
i have ridden on more than 12 bus routes.
pretty good stuff.
i appreciated joe‘s comments on the ‘if i were marta coo’ posts. it’s good to know the carpeted trains are going bye-bye. i don’t know if they are reallocating the ones left to the north line though, because they seem to making much more frequent appearances at north springs this month.
every now and again you see someone straight out of central casting on marta. this morning it was ‘perfectly put together intellectual boy.” you know him. he had an immaculate short hair cut, wearing a black sweater with black jeans and square toed shoes. of course he has a messenger bag and he was absolutely too cool to sit (btw – one week of riding the rails will cure anybody of that). but the kicker was that he was reading a well-worn copy of, you got it, atlas shrugged. i am certain that while he is way to cool to put a bumper sticker on his car, that he at least owns a ron paul for pres t-shirt.
final observation, dreads one has been missing from the 140 all week. maybe he is on vacation?

You’re welcome. There are still quite a few rail cars to go before the whole system is rehabilitated. According to the press kit, the program is supposed to finish this year.
